Book Overview

The NHL legend tells his story from his Ontario childhood to his years with the Bruins and Blackhawks, to today.  New York Times Bestseller!

Bobby Orr is often referred to as the greatest defenseman ever to play the game of hockey. But all the brilliant achievements leave unsaid as much as they reveal. They don’t tell what inspired Orr, what drove him, what it was like for a shy small-town kid to suddenly land in the full glare of the media. They don’t tell what it was like when the agent he regarded as a brother betrayed him and left him in financial ruin. They don’t tell what he thinks of the game of hockey today.

Now he breaks his silence in a memoir as unique as the man himself...

although he was my abosolute idol and i truly respect him i thought the book at times lacked any real substance. Bobby Orr is simply too classy to write anything negative about teamates and friends and Im sure he could have said some pretty nasty things about the man who left him almost bankrupt i enjoyed it mostly and any Orr fan will too however it will leave you asking more questions than answers.

Bobby Orr is my absoute idol. The anticpation to read this book was tremendous. In addition to missing a golden opportunity to give the reader insight to the NHL transitioning from the original six, and some of the great personlaities, we are left with a poorly written story that never penetrated the surface save too many pages dedicated to Alan Eagleson. Really disappointed.
  • Good book... Lots of info from Orr's early days.

Bobby Orr has been an idol of mine for years and I was happy to read his story. His insights into youth hockey should be utilized for all youth sports programs.
